I offer this practice in Dubai as a sanctuary for those feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally stuck. While it may sound simple — floating and being gently moved in water — what unfolds beneath the surface is often profound.
WaterFlow is a form of aquatic therapy that blends gentle bodywork with meditative movement in warm water. The water acts like a cocoon — softening the body, calming the mind, and helping to release tension stored in the nervous system and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles and organs).
Unlike traditional hydrotherapy or swimming-based treatments, WaterFlow requires no effort on your part. You are completely supported by a trained practitioner and floatation devices, sometimes gently guided underwater if you’re comfortable.
This style of aquatic bodywork is inspired by modalities like Watsu and WaterDance, but WaterFlow uniquely weaves in underwater sequences, breath awareness, and emotional support.
Many of the people who come to WaterFlow are experiencing:
In the water, the nervous system shifts into a state of rest and repair (known as the parasympathetic state). The brain begins to quiet down. The body relaxes. There is no need to “do” anything — which in itself can be a healing experience.
Clients often describe feeling reset, like they’ve just meditated for hours without effort. Some share they had moments of release — a sigh, a tear, or a smile they didn’t know they were holding in.
Even children feel the shift. One 10-year-old, Barbara, said, “It feels like all the tasks from my iPad or iPhone were deleted… and now you are free and have empty space.”
Vanessa shared, “The most nurturing underwater meditation you can experience.”
Helen wrote, “I have never experienced anything like this and have spent the last two days trying to find the words!! Over the course of an hour you are held and supported in the water, no speaking, then she gently submerges you for increasing amounts of time, moving your body beneath the waves. I wanted to keep going under for longer and longer. There was something so magical about seeing the sunshine come through the water, even with closed eyes. I have zero memory of being in the womb, but I imagine this is the closest you can get. Unreal!! In terms of feelings, I had a few moments of absolute euphoria, smiling underwater, and felt a little tearful a few times. And have been left feeling so peaceful.”
WaterFlow can benefit anyone, but especially those who:
It is not a replacement for psychotherapy, but rather a complementary experience that supports emotional release, regulation, and embodiment.
One of the most unique aspects of WaterFlow is that it invites you to rest without needing to explain, fix, or solve anything. In the water, we don’t talk. The body leads. And often, that is where the healing begins.
