Psychiatrist

About Me/Bio
I obtained my primary medical degree in 2008 and decided to pursue my career in psychiatry. I did my 3 years core training in Psychiatry in the East Midlands division of United Kingdom’s psychiatry training programme, primarily in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. I became the member of Royal College of Psychiatrist (RCPsych) in 2015. I then moved to London to finish my specialist training. I worked for 2 years in East London NHS Foundation Trust (one of the finest NHS psychiatric care providers in the UK with outstanding CQC rating) and treated severe and enduring mental disorders as well as substance misuse disorders. I then moved to North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT) to finish my training in general adult psychiatry. I obtained my CCT (certificate of completion of training) in 2018. I took up a permanent consultant role in North East London NHS Foundation Trust in a community team where I worked for the next 4 years before moving to the UAE. I carried out in-depth assessments of patients with wide range of mental health difficulties and devised multidisciplinary management plans often incorporating crisis resolution teams. I am Certified by United Kingdom Adult ADHD Network (UKAAN) for the assessment and diagnosis as well as management of Adult ADHD. ADHD is a common mental health disorder that starts during child development but frequently persists throughout adolescence and into the adult years. More than 50% of children diagnosed with ADHD entre their adulthood with persistent significant symptoms of ADHD. Common symptoms include inattention, distractibility, disorganization, over activity, restlessness, impulsiveness and mood lability; and these may lead to considerable clinical and psychosocial impairments. I am also ADOS 2 Certified (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, 2nd Edition ADOS-2). The ADOS provides an accurate assessment and diagnosis of autism and pervasive development disorder across all ages, developmental levels and language skills. ADOS-2 is a semi-structured, standardized assessment of communication, social interaction, play, and restricted and repetitive behaviors. It presents various activities that elicit behaviors directly related to a diagnosis of ASD. By observing and coding these behaviors, I can obtain information that informs diagnosis, treatment planning, and educational placement. I am also certified TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) administrator and prescriber.

How I can help you
I strive to create a supportive and non-judgmental environment where patients feel comfortable expressing their emotions and experiences. I practice active listening to understand their concerns fully. I also show empathy and validate their feelings to establish a therapeutic alliance.

I always aim to educate my patients about their mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for coping with their symptoms and also provide psychoeducation about their diagnosis, helping them develop a deeper understanding of their condition and fostering self-empowerment.

I also collaborate with my patients to develop individualized treatment plans based on their unique needs and goals and consider various treatment options, including medication, psychotherapy, or a combination of both, depending on the nature of the problem. I will carry out thorough assessments and evaluations to understand my patients’ mental health concerns, using diagnostic criteria and clinical interviews to make accurate diagnoses, which will guide me devising treatment plans. If the medications are what we need, I do prescribe and monitor appropriate psychiatric medications when necessary. Regularly assess the effectiveness of the prescribed medication and make adjustments as needed, considering potential side effects and interactions.
I work very closely with other healthcare professionals involved in my patients’ care. I would communicate effectively, share information (if needed with your consent), and work together to ensure comprehensive and coordinated treatment.
Why I am specialized in this field
I specialize in the assessment and management of all mental health conditions and also see patients with unexplained medical problems when all the investigations have come back normal.
What I say to people who feel nervous or have concerns about therapy/assessment
Psychiatrists in general serve as beacons of hope, offering a path towards improved mental health and a brighter future. Through their therapeutic alliance, evidence-based treatments, and empowering approach, psychiatrists instill optimism, resilience, and a sense of possibility in their patients’ lives. By fostering personal growth, providing education, and cultivating support networks, psychiatrists empower individuals to reclaim their lives and envision a future filled with hope, fulfillment, and well-being. In moments of extreme distress, I would provide immediate support, safety planning, and interventions to ensure the well-being of their patients. Through crisis management, I can help individuals regain stability, restore hope, and pave the way for ongoing recovery.

I would love to connect with you!
