About Me/Bio
Having worked in the field of mental health for over 12 years, my clinical experience is diverse and rich. In the UK I worked in the NHS, schools, and in private practice. Since moving to Dubai in January 2019, I have continued to work with adolescents, adults, families and groups from many different backgrounds, experiencing a range of challenges with their mental health, emotional wellbeing, life circumstances, and relationships. As a clinical psychologist, I have been trained in a wide variety of evidence-based therapies. The therapeutic approaches I most often integrate into my practice are: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Mentalization, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Systemic Therapy and Person Centred Therapy. I am also trained in some somatic therapies and facilitate a weekly open group related to this.
I adapt my approach in therapy to each individual I work with, creating a bespoke therapeutic experience based on their preferences, psychological needs, goals and interpersonal style. I strongly believe in the peace of mind, sense of self and wholehearted relationships that can be cultivated and nourished through therapy, and I am privileged to join individuals and groups in co-creating such a journey of self-discovery. I use the therapeutic relationship to foster a safe environment where my clients can freely express themselves without fear of judgement, and where they can expect to be met with warmth and empathy. In addition to clinical psychology, my special interests include holistic psychology, culture, diversity and equality. I endeavour to work in a culturally competent way, and I value exploring the relationship between a client’s culture and their psychological experience. I am passionate about sharing psychological knowledge and practices with individuals and communities, and I readily take up opportunities to do this where possible.
