I have extensive experience in medication management of psychiatry as a NHS UK based Consultant Psychiatrist but also unique skills in managing complex trauma and dissociative disorders. I have 21 years of experience using EMDR for trauma, loss and stress-related conditions. I deliver a unique integrative model – ‘IFS-Informed EMDR’, an approach that enhances the safety and effectiveness of EMDR for clients with complex trauma and those who have had limited success with other therapies.
I work with those with anxiety issues, panic disorder, phobias, body dysmorphic disorders, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders (OCD), recurrent and treatment-resistant depression, bipolar Disorder and psychosis. post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Complex PTSD, personality and dissociative disorders (including Dissociative Identity Disorder), post-traumatic reactions following medical or surgical emergencies, ICU experiences, birth trauma and major life events. I have expertise in working with Functional Neurological Disorders (FND), somatic, hypochondriacal fears, and Medically Unexplained Symptoms (MUS) Complicated Grief (CG) and loss/attachment-related issues
For therapists, I have been a EMDR Europe Practitioner & Consultant/Supervisor/Training facilitator and an ex-board member of the EMDR Association in the UK. I have published several research articles and book chapters on topics related to EMDR, psychosis, anxiety, and phobias and is currently writing two key books on these topics. I offer clinical supervision in EMDR for those trained in it (both group and individual) and delivers EMDR/IFS workshops and events. I have been invited to speak as an expert on BBC Scotland news and radio programmes.
