What I say to people who feel nervous or have concerns about therapy/assessment
You might have lived most of your life without properly understanding yourself. Or you might understand yourself really well but have no idea how to make the changes you want to make. With therapy, you explore yourself and your unique story in a whole new way, so you really understand the strengths and struggles that made you who you are today. The first session with me is about me exploring the difficulties that you’re facing (no need to prepare!) and starting to develop a roadmap of where we want to go. What happens in the second session and onwards depends on your specific needs, my clinical assessment, and what you and I agree is the right direction. We might focus on building coping skills and reducing symptoms, or we might start to explore your history to properly understand your context. It’s a journey of healing and exploring that we do together, but the focus is entirely on you, with zero judgement. I’m naturally a deeply empathic, caring person, and I’m trained to provide you a safe space. Together we’ll explore ways of Being that enable you to understand yourself so that you can be your best and most authentic self. Life coaching with me is a more goal-oriented process where I work with you to build a vision of where you want to be. We’ll make a plan of how to get there, and set clear, achievable milestones together. There are so many connections between therapy and life coaching – I bring all my clinical experience as a psychologist to my life coaching practice, and all the energy of life coaching to my clinical practice. I am so grateful to love what I do, and do what I love.
