HOW I CAN HELP YOU
Hello,
Thank you for stoping by my profile. Emotions are integral part of our lives, hence embrace these as they are without judging or feeling that you shouldn't feel that way. I always believe that it is our imperfections and emotions that make us humans. In today's day and age, where we are bombarded with filters, distractions, competitiveness and information-overload, it is easier for us to label ourselves or our significant others when we are trapped in emotional turmoil. This in turn, impact our physical health and cognitive functioning. Experiencing emotions in not wrong but it is the expression that we can make more adaptive, creating a win-win situation to ace in today's world.

I use various modalties including cognitive-behavioural therapy (identifying biasness in our though-pattern with musts, shoulds, always and then replacing those with more flexible and adaptive thinking), solution-focused couples therapy (building secure bonds between partners through accessing vulnerable emotions and replacing those with positive emotional experiences), art therapy, solution-focused therapy (enabling strengths and resilience in a person based on past successes) and mindfulness based therapy (focusing on how thoughts influence emotions, perceptions and behaviours that leads to automatic negative patterns in thinking and emotions). These modalities are grounded in compassionate care, empathy and understanding.
WHY I AM SPECIALIZED IN THIS FIELD
It was more of my personal experience that drew me to the field of psychology and psychotherapy. As a kid, I was always drawn to art and sketching as a to deal with isolation which slowly got transitioned into singing. As a child, my family regarded me as a quiet but understanding kid who never took things for granted, preferred hard-work rather than short-cuts to acheive goals in life. My maternal uncle (to whom I am really close) had medical diagnosis of bipolar depression. Quite young at that time to understand what it really meant, but reading stories to him from book, making him hear jokes and see comedy shows, made him laugh and smile during those moments. Seeing this, my family and of course my dearest uncle, encouraged me to pursue psychology as a career.
I myself have withstand much set-backs in life but resilience has helped me get over the obstancles and a belief that 'all will turn out in my favor'. There is a very famous Indian Hindi movie called '3 idiots', that gave a famous phrase that 'your heart is really innocent, just say to it all is well, and it will believe it so'.

These experiences took me to my specialization as well including certification in applied behaviour analysis, training and education in palliative care and research in chronic pain with emphasis on anger management.
WHAT I SAY TO PEOPLE WHO FEEL NERVOUS OR HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT THERAPY/ASSESSMENT
Expressing about oneself through vulnerabilities and recovering the emotions that you have repressed for long, in front of stranger, could feel a lot but it is like shedding a mountain from your head. The safe, non-judgemental attitude and empathising environment provided in the therapy room, act as a pwerful driving force in bringing that much needed emotional comfort and strength that you have wanting to have for so long. Therapy is rediscovering your own power and will that was earlier just hidden in your being, with me as your therapist helping you recognize it. You and I will be a collaborative team in this journey.
WHAT MEASURES I USE IN ASSESSMENTS
Psychological assessments on depression and anxiety, which are culture-fair, standardized measures.
SLIDING SCALE OR PRO-BONO
Sliding scale available as part of 6 session maximum. It can be discussed on a case to case basis.

I would love to connect with you!
