She earned her M.A. in Psychology from the University of Delhi, India (2013) and an M.S. in Clinical Psychology from California State University, Fullerton (2017). She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in palliative care at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, U.S.A. Prior to relocating to Dubai, Purnima worked with Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders as Mental Health Activity Manager for their Advanced HIV project in Patna, India, overseeing all mental health activities. Alongside counseling and psychotherapy, Purnima has a strong passion for research and statistics. Her master’s thesis, “Role of Ambivalence over Emotional Expressions and Intrusive Thoughts Among Patients with Fibromyalgia,” highlighted the potential of anger management as a non-pharmacological treatment for chronic pain. She is also a published author of articles and book chapters focusing on mental health in critical illnesses and palliative care.
