HOW I CAN HELP YOU
For children and Adolescents:
I provide a compassionate and safe space for young people to explore their emotions. I use play therapy concepts, solution-focused therapy techniques, practical coping skills, and mindfulness to help children develop self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience.
For Adults:
I understand the unique challenges faced by adults and provide a non-judgmental space for growth. I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) alongside solution-focused approaches to empower you to navigate difficult emotions, build coping skills, and explore new ways to achieve your goals.
For Couples and Family Counselling:
I work with couples and families to foster healthier communication and develop strategies to manage conflict. Through a systemic approach, I help identify patterns and promote understanding between loved ones to facilitate healing and connection.
WHAT I SAY TO PEOPLE WHO FEEL NERVOUS OR HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT THERAPY/ASSESSMENT
As a dedicated counselor and passionate educator, my journey began with a foundation in psychology, leading to a master’s degree in counseling. Early on, I recognized the crucial need for counseling in schools, especially at the elementary level, which sparked my transition from teaching to counseling. Originating from Houston, Texas, I embarked on my teaching career, fulfilling the prerequisite years before applying for counseling roles. Despite facing challenges in securing counseling positions, my determination led me to Georgia and eventually back to Houston, where I worked as a community outreach specialist for the Girl Scouts of America during a recession.
My diverse experiences include private counseling practice, teaching in Abu Dhabi, and counseling roles in Abu Dhabi and Dubai schools. In these positions, I’ve delved into career guidance, SAT preparation, mindfulness education, and the development of comprehensive counseling programs. Growing up, I navigated personal challenges that fueled my commitment to creating supportive environments for children. Early experiences of being bullied by both peers and teachers instilled in me a deep aversion to bullying, shaping my advocacy for anti-bullying efforts. My passion extends beyond counseling, incorporating mindfulness practices into my work. Trained by Mindful Schools, I integrate mindfulness into counseling sessions and classroom guidance, emphasizing its benefits for mental well-being. As a lifelong learner, I continuously expand my skills and knowledge. From my early days playing multiple instruments and engaging in fine arts to overcoming personal challenges, I bring a unique blend of compassion, empathy, and resilience to my counseling practice.
Through my journey, I’ve learned the value of compassion, empathy, and understanding. My mission is to empower children, support families, and collaborate with educators to create nurturing environments. I believe in the power of self-awareness, mindfulness, and effective communication as essential tools for personal growth. Today, as the Early Years Counselor at Gems International School Al Khail and Licensed Social Counselor at MCM Mental Health Center in Dubai, I continue to cultivate a holistic approach to counseling, integrating my diverse experiences and personal growth into every aspect of my work.
