HOW I CAN HELP YOU
I work with clients aged 12 years and upwards, both adults and adolescents, as well as couples. I specialise in helping with a range of problems using an integration of approaches ranging from Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Schema Therapy. My specialist areas are addiction and trauma, although I help clients with many varied and overlapping problems, including anxiety, panic, depression, low self-esteem, childhood trauma and relationship problems.
WHY I AM SPECIALIZED IN THIS FIELD
In working with my clients, I draw on my professional experience of working in mental health since 2001, my qualified experience as a UK-trained clinical psychologist since 2006, my experience as an accredited executive and performance coach, and more recently my experience in addiction recovery coaching. I also come from a position of lived experience and sustained recovery from addiction, trauma and life adversity. I believe strongly in the value of the therapeutic relationship as the vehicle of change for so many clients.
WHAT I SAY TO PEOPLE WHO FEEL NERVOUS OR HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT THERAPY/ASSESSMENT
It is normal and totally acceptable to feel nervous or uneasy about seeking therapy and looking for help. I personally honour the feeling of standing at the edge, feeling scared or uncertain, but recognising that change is needed. I have lived experience of journeying through this process myself over many years of falling and rising. I believe in the value of therapy as a way forward, both through the relationship between client and therapist, and through the approaches we use together collaboratively in our shared journey.
