Hima Mammen is a Dubai licensed counseling psychologist who works with families, couples, and individuals. She is passionate about patterns of communication, couple’s attachment styles, and family dynamics. She also advocates for the social inclusion and rehabilitation of patients experiencing clinical symptoms. Hima’s approach to therapy focuses on self-reflection, exploration, and building new narratives about past experiences. A problem is understood in the context of culture, circumstances, and relationships, and evidence-based methods are used to address them. Sessions would encourage curiosity about patterns in one’s own life and will progress at the pace of the client. Hima received her training in Systemic Psychotherapy from King’s College, London. She is keen on understanding one’s family of origin and early experiences. Hima has an M.Sc in Counselling Psychology and Bachelors in Psychology and Media Studies, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Women’s health, and Sexuality. She was trained at the NHS, London in providing services for early intervention in psychosis and at Healthcare Global, to work with patients and families battling cancer. Hima is trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Cognitive Analytical Therapy. She is a member of the Emirates Medical Association and Emirates Society for Mental Health. With her training and experiences, Hima uses a mixture of humanistic, behavioral, and systemic principles to facilitate a safe space for the client. Equal importance is given to positive aspects of the client’s life to create self-awareness and encourage wellness.
